My history
Born and raised on a farm in northern Rajasthan, India, known for its desert landscapes and sand dunes, my passion for farming began early. At just 7 years old, I started gaining hands-on experience in animal husbandry and assisting my parents with crop management, which laid the foundation for my agricultural journey. By grade 9, I was fully immersed in agricultural studies, eventually culminating in a Ph.D. in Agriculture.
After completing my PhD, I continued to build on that foundation as a breeder/professor, where I had the privilege of teaching a wide range of courses, mentoring master’s and PhD students, and leading All India Coordinated Research Projects. These experiences allowed me to bridge practical farming knowledge with academic research, contributing meaningfully to the advancement of agricultural science and education across the region.
My parents instilled in me the importance of protecting soil from wind erosion, implementing crop rotations, integrating animals into the farming system, and practicing precision agriculture—all while avoiding synthetic fertilizers and chemicals. At the time, they didn’t know that these practices were essentially the principles of regenerative agriculture, yet they were cultivating the land with sustainability at its core.
I’ve had the privilege of leading four farms across Canada (McCain Research Farm and McCain Farm of the Future) and India, with a focus on applied research (variety testing and agronomy), regenerative agriculture, carbon sequestration, sustainable crop production, and knowledge transfer to growers.
Throughout my career, I’ve led teams of scientists and agronomists, advancing variety development, soil health, and farm productivity. Under my leadership, Canadian farms became benchmarks for innovation and sustainable practices.
My goal is to continue driving progress in regenerative agriculture, empowering growers with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.
